Free Adobe Photoshop Plug-ins
Here are filter plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop 3.0 for Macintosh.
These are charity-wares.
You are welcome to distribute and use them freely.
But, If you appreciate them, please make a donation
of any amount to your favorite charitable organization.
One donation of any amount is sufficient for all plug-ins.

colleen's Photoshop Fun Pack 1.2.0
(updated on 6/21/98, 310k bytes).
This includes the following five filter plug-ins.
- Adjust Saturation
- Create B/W
- Kwick Mask
- Modulate Color
- Rotate Color
-
Variable Blur
System Requirements
- Any Macintosh computer running Adobe Photoshop 3.0.0 or later.
- Will not work with older versions.
- FPU not required.
-
There is no plan for Windows versions.
Common Features (or 10 Reasons to Download)
- Full size preview window which is movable, resizable, scrollable
and zoomable.
- Small thumb nail preview for quick preview (except for Kwick Mask).
- Toolbox similar to that of Photoshop.
Very intuitive to Photoshop users.
- Background processing. They just don't wait "OK" button.
- Semi-modeless operation. You can do the filtering
while you are goofing off on AOL.
- The progress box gives you an estimate of the finishing time.
- Small memory requirement (except for Kwick Mask).
- Ugggh... I run out of idea.
- ...still no idea.
- ...and Now, they are all fat!.
Downloading and Installing Plug-ins
The file is compressed and encoded ("*.sit.hqx" files).
Many (most of?) Web browsers automatically decode
and expand it for you.
But if not, you'll need
StuffIt Expander
or similar software.
After decoding and expanding the file, move it (it'll be a folder)
into the "Plug-ins" folder in your "Adobe Photoshop" folder
and (re)start Photoshop.
Please see the "Read_Me" and "*.doc" files in the folder for usage.
The Plug-ins
- Rotate Color
This is the most fun plug-in of all.
It rotates the color in the RGB space.
Confused?
- Create B/W
This is the coolest plug-in of all,
if you are into B/W photography.
It creates black and white (gray scale) images from color images.
It lets you adjust the ratio of red, green, and blue
in the final gray scale image.
It also allows you to adjust the brightness and contrast.
Now 1.1.x does CMYK as well as RGB images.
- Kwick Mask
This could be the most useful plug-in of all.
It's a tool rather than a filter.
It creates a selection from RGB images.
It works similar to "Color Range" command in Photoshop,
but it lets you set the tolerance explicitly
in either HSB or RGB mode.
It also allows you to use up to 31 sets of tolerances.
It requires extra (image_width*image_height)
bytes of memory.
- Adjust Saturation
This plug-in gives you more control over the saturation adjustment.
It can adjust the "contrast of the saturation".
By increasing this contrast, you can saturate the saturated color even
more, and saturate the un-saturated color even less.
This filter conserves either
the luminance Y = 0.30R + 0.59G + 0.11B or
the intensity I = (R + G + B)/3.
Conserving the luminance Y usually gives better results.
- Modulate Color
This plug-in modulates the HSB (hue, saturation, and brightness)
value of the image using the mask value.
The saturation and brightness control work very similar to those of
Photoshop's Hue/Saturation adjustment.
The difference is that, with this filter, the mask value determines
the amount of hue rotation rather than the opacity of the effect.
Therefore, it is essential to use density masks with values between
0 and 255 rather than simple masks with value 0 and 255 only.
- Variable Blur
You can control the blur radius of each pixel using this plug-in.
The opacity control lets you ajust soft-focus effects very easily.
Misc. Notes
- You DO need Photoshop 3.0.0 or later.
- They are now "fat" code resources.
- Theoretically, all plug-ins, except Kwick Mask,
should work with applications that
support Photoshop 3.0 plug-ins. However, the author will not
support any applications other
than Adobe Photoshop.
