I drink bourbon, but I also write about it. My book,
BOURBON, STRAIGHT: The Uncut and Unfiltered Story of American Whiskey,
is a good place to start. I also made a documentary
about bourbon for public television, have written articles
about it for magazines and I publish my own American
whiskey newsletter. Here are some links and
recommended books that Bourbon lovers may find useful.
Because I live in Chicago, people often ask me where in Chicago they should
go to buy or drink bourbon. Here is the answer.
On September 28, 2005, I attended the dedication of George Washington's
reconstructed distillery at Mount Vernon in Virginia, which included rum making
in an 18th center replica still, and the bottling of a unique whiskey blended at
Mount Vernon. Watch the slide
show. (The slide show opens in a new window. When you are finished watching
the show, just close the window to return here.)
