STANFORD BASEBALL
The offense pounded out 16 hits and Jeff Austin went eight innings for his fifth win of the year as Stanford easily defeated the Sun Devils 15-2 at Packard Stadium this evening. Austin (1R,3H,3BB,8K,127pitches) did not give up a hit until the fifth inning when ASU scored it's first run. In what was projected as a pitching duel never materialized as the Cardinal got to Sun Devil starter Ryan Mills for 10 runs in 4+ innings. Second baseman Tony Schrager had three hits and three RBI's including a two-run HR. Designated-hitter Joe Borchard had four RBI's and two hits on the night and had the hit of the game with a two-run HR that cleared the scoreboard in centerfield. John Salter also contributed three RBI's. Josh Hochgesang gets the defensive award of the game with his play at third base. Austin Coose pitched the final inning for the Cardinal.
