She was born in Hollis, NH in 1896, shortly after the death of her father of tuberculosis.  Doris lived with her mother in Nashua where they had a boarding house.

As a young woman she worked as a receptionist at the Card Shop (Nashua Corporation) and encouraged her future husband Walter to apply for a position there..which ultimately turned very much to their advantage.

Mrs. Evans led an active life dedicated to family and community based upon a consistently positive outlook based on faith and gratitude.  She enjoyed a long life passing in 1984.

Mrs. Evans was an active member of Congregational Church serving as a deaconess and member of the King's Daughters Benevolent Society.  She was also a member of the Good Cheer Society , a charitable home health care provider and predecessor of Nashua's Visiting Nurse Service.
