Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes,
Tears of the Prophets and Shadows and Symbols.
Both of the DS9 episodes I worked on called for large groups of ships moving in formation and firing weapons.
In Tears of the Prophets, I blew up some orbiting weapons platforms using digitized explosion sequences mapped onto polygons.
Airwalk tennis shoes commercial, Virtual Date.
There were several shots in this commercial where I had to composite the actress walking through a LightWave generated environment. I got excellent results with Digital Fusion's roto-splines.
In some of the shots, the camera as well as the actress was moving. For these, I had to match the LightWave camera to the real camera motion to get a believable composite. The camera data from the set was pretty good , but there was still a lot of time spent eyeballing the 3D camera move to match the on-set camera.
I created the fake virtual reality elements for the shot in which the actor picks the girl of his choice.
Conan the Adventurer pilot episode.
In the pilot of Conan, he has to fight a giant spider. I "got" to animate the shot where Conan cuts off one of it legs. (And you thought two-legged creatures were tough to animate!)
I used Photoshop to do this extensive set extension.
Sector Expander watch commercial, Collector.
For this very effects heavy commercial, I modeled and surfaced some cool creatures.
These creatures had to be put in creature pods which were composited into shots with real creatures and pods. I did the photorealistic modeling and lighting of the pods to match the on-set practicals.
Using the on-set camera data, I did the LightWave camera match move and composited the 3D pods into the plates in LightWave as well.
Carlton Cold beer commercials, Spy and Twins.
For Spy, Ken Stranahan and I developed this nice stylized color effect in Digital Fusion. It's supposed to look like you're using a heat detection camera to catch the spy.
Twins called for a fake computer analyzer to determine what was wrong with the actor. The transparent brain looks really cool as it spins around. I created and combined the elements for this playback screen.
This shot is a quadruple composite: I used Photoshop to color-correct and composite the boy into the photo with the girl by the Christmas tree. (They're suppose to be twins.) Using Digital Fusion, I animated and composited that photo into the fake computer interface and the whole thing into the actual computer monitor in the plates. Above all this the man's hand was added using Fusion's roto-splines.
Sky Latin American Fútbol show open.
I modeled, surfaced, lit, and animated the elements for this pretty show open.
