Dick & Jean Hoffman - Sooty Terns in the Dry Tortugas

Sooty Terns April-May, 1983 These terns were abundant on the nesting island opposite Fort Jefferson at the Dry Tortugas. Their white underparts took on the aqua tones reflected from the shallow waters of the Caribbean. Otherwise their appearance was about the same as the bird we saw at East Fork State Park in Clermont County, Ohio, on July 16, 2005.
