Everything you ever wanted to know about tpvtoci, but were afraid to ask....

Nothing terribly mysterious, I am sorry to report.

The D.C. office started out by sending us their shelflist cards for retrospective conversion. This worked out fairly well, as shelflist cards tend to have the information we need.

Problems arose, however, when working with titles without shelflist cards. For those, we needed photocopies of the title page, verso, and the table of contents. We also needed to know if there was an index.

There were a few more details, of course, but those were the main ones.

Anyway, it got rather boring to keep asking for title page, verso, table of contents, and index, so we abbreviated that mess to tpvtoci, pronounced "tip-vee-tock-ee."

Aren't you glad you clicked on that link?
