Other Wedding Related Links
You know, every time I get involved in something, I'm always at what I can find on the topic on the Net. Here we share some of the useful links we've discovered on the Internet during the course of planning out wedding. If you're planning your own, we hope you find these useful. If you have some good links to suggest, please e-mail us.
- DeBeer's Diamonds
- If you're shopping for an engagement ring, this site has a wealth of information about diamonds and tips on what to look for when buying a diamond.
- Chinese Wedding Traditions
- Since I'm Chinese, one of the things Yaenette wanted to do was try to incorporate some Chinese wedding traditions into our wedding. So, out onto the Net I went to see if there was any information on the subject. Much to my surprise, this is site is what I found. Very interesting.
- Infostuff Wedding Planner
- This page has a fair bit of information on planning a wedding, including a timeline for things that should be done the year before the big event.
- Yahoo's Wedding Section
- Yahoo's always a great source of information, and their section on weddings is no exception.
- MetLife's Getting Married brochure
- Part of their Life Advice series of brochures. Cute, but very informative.
- Diamond Engagement Ring FAQ
- A fairly long document written by someone who's gone through the ordeal of purchasing an engagement ring. Has some useful tips in it.
- The Knot
- A wedding portal page. Yaenette visits this place daily. Lots of articles and stuff.
- Wedding Magic wedding planning software.
- We tried out a few demos from companies we saw at Yahoo, and we liked this one best.

If you're in the market for an engagement ring, I strongly recommend making a trip to the jewelry district along Mott Street in New York City's Chinatown or else the diamond district on either 47th or 48th street in Manhatten. There are jewelry stores for at least 10 blocks (enough to make your eyes hurt), and if you're good, you can negotiate yourself a really good bargain. The stores in Chinatown have slightly lower prices, and they're sometimes easier to negotiate with. Make a couple of trips if you can afford it. On the first trip, have a look around, select a few jewelers and let them know what kind of ring or stone you want. It might take some time for them to get a few samples in. On the next trip, check out the stones they have, and if you see one you like, bargain them down. If you're not able to get to NYC, then you may unfortunately be stuck with paying through the nose. And definitely stay out of those mall jewelry stores. After seeing the prices in NYC, the prices they want in those mall jewelry stores are outrageous to say the least.
