Please contact Brent Cooper, Special Services Librarian at 213-660-3880, ext. 292 or via e-mail at rsd@brailib.org TITLE: READER SERVICES MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Director, the Reader Services Manager is responsible for the following duties: 1. Be responsible for all phases of operation of the Reader Services Division including supervision, hiring, training and evaluation of staff in Reader Services; 2. Supervise Reader Services programs and activities; 3. Prepare documentation, budget recommendations and other reports are needed; 4. Monitor the processing of new patron applications by Reader Advisory staff; collect statistics, ensure that all patron contacts are completed; 5. Responsible for processing of overdue, inactive recall and other letters and required reports such as reserve problems and patron-due-for-service; 6. Review the input of new title information into Title Maintenance; 7. Act as liaison for the Division to coordinate joint projects with other library divisions/sections; 8. Provide reference service for Library patrons in the absence of Information Resources Librarian; 9. Resolve patron initiated problems or concerns through phone contact and correspondence; 10. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor. open until filled Prerequisites Include: MLS from an ALA accredited school; Library supervisory experience in Public/Reader Services; Management and interpersonal skills; Ability to function effectively as a team member; Proven written and oral communication skills.
