du Guard, Provence
This is one of the most preserved Roman aqueducts in the world. It was built in 19 B.C to carry water to Nimes. I'm trying to imagine a modern aqueduct lasting for 2000 years and I can't. I mean our roads can't even last through a winter storm.
We stayed in a charming little establishment in Nimes. $8 a person and a view of the a 2000 year old arena. They still hold events in the arena.
