Hiragana for Lesson 18
![]() |
せ is
pronounced /se/. It is the 4番目 よんばんめ yon-banme kana in the さ行, the 3行目 さんぎょうめ san-gyoume in the hiragana. せ comes from the 漢字 kanji 世. Words (新出単語) to practice for today:
|
Adding a だくてん to せ makes ぜ ze.
The 新出単語 have gotten a lot more difficult. Try to accustom yourself with the 漢字 (kanji, Chinese characters) in parentheses. After finishing all the kana, the 漢字 will be next, so one of the goals of these lessons is getting used to the visual shape of the 漢字.
The Emperor goes to 伊勢神宮 to make important announcements (such as coronations) to the gods.
The second column gives the readings for the 漢字 in the first column.
The grammar explanation behind wa and ga can get quite long and confusing. I recommend memorizing sentences like this and then trying to develop them (benjamin-wa se-ga takai, etc.) Explanations should come after a pattern feels natural.
Notice how the difference in 漢字 can change a word, like in 風邪 a cold and 風 the wind. Seeing double? No, the first 漢字 in かぜ a cold is the only 漢字 for かぜ the wind!
Remember to keep the 書き順 and 方向 ほうこう houkou!
書き順と方向をしっかりと守ってください。
