Smallville
Tuesdays at 9:00PM
This new action-adventure drama is a dynamic reinterpretation of
the enduring Superman franchise and its classic characters as seen
through the eyes of teenage Clark Kent (Tom Welling). The series
explores Clark's struggle to come to grips with his emerging superpowers
during his formative years in Smallville, Kansas. Clark feels responsible
for the strange and unexplained phenomena that have plagued Smallville
since the meteor shower that brought him to earth, and he vows to
use his ever-growing powers to put an end to them. With realistic
portrayals and state-of-the-art special effects taking the mythology
back to its roots, "Smallville" will introduce Clark Kent, Lex Luthor
(Michael Rosenbaum, "Zoe") and Lana Lang (Kristen Kreuk) to a new
generation. The series also stars Eric Johnson, Samuel L. Jones,
Allison Mack, John Schneider ("Dukes of Hazzard") and Cynthia Ettinger.
Writers Alfred Gough & Miles Millar ("Shanghai Noon") are executive
producers along with Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins ("Varsity Blues"),
Joe Davola and David Nutter ("X-Files," "Roswell") who directed
the pilot for Tollin/Robbins Productions in association with Warner
Bros. Television.
Elimidate Deluxe
Thursdays at 8:30PM
Dating is always a process of elimination, and this new lighthearted
relationship show based on the quest for true love takes singles
on adventurous dates in exotic locales and lets healthy competition
take it from there. "Elimidate Deluxe" streamlines the search for
romance by giving one lucky guy or girl the opportunity to go on
a lavish dream date with four potential love connections at once.
From luxurious settings across the globe including Costa Rica, Greece,
Paris and the Bavarian Alps, the cameras capture every exciting
moment of the dating game as "candi-dates" are vetoed one by one
-- until only Mr. and Ms. Right remain. A reality-based adventure
of wish-fulfillment and romance from executive producer Alex Duda,
"Elimidate Deluxe" is a Telepictures production.
Maybe I'm Adopted
Fridays at 8:30PM
This new half-hour comedy centers on 15-year-old Molly Stage (Reagan
Dale Neis) who -- like most girls her age -- feels as if she's surrounded
by a family of freaks. Molly's torturous coming of age plays out
in a house crammed with odd knick-knacks and even odder people,
headed by an insanely frugal mother (Julia Sweeney, "Saturday Night
Live") and a soccer-obsessed dad (Fred Willard, "Best in Show").
Recently emerged from braces and baby fat, Molly is determined to
blossom...if the Stages don't make her wilt. Andrew Walker, Patrick
Levis ("So Weird"), identical twins Danielle and Deanna Cantermen
star as Molly's eccentric siblings, along with Vicki Davis. Pop-up
graphics and voice-over narration enliven this offbeat -- though
upbeat -- family comedy from writer/executive producer Suzanne Martin
("Frasier") for Warner Bros. Television and Touchstone Television.
Deep in the Heart
Fridays at 9:00PM
Country superstar Reba McEntire makes her first foray into series
television as part of a bright comedic ensemble in this new series
which spruces up the all-American family with a spirited Southern
look at suburban mania. The Hart family is in the midst of a divorce
as Texas soccer mom Reba (McEntire) watches her white-picket-fenced
world collapse before her very eyes. Along with the news that her
soon-to-be-ex-husband (Christopher Rich, "Murphy Brown") is marrying
his impossibly perky and unfortunately pregnant dental hygienist
(Melissa Peterman, "Fargo") comes the revelation that her 17-year-old
drill-teaming daughter (Joanna Garcia, "Freaks and Geeks") is also
pregnant by the high school's dim-bulb football star (Steve Howey).
Toss into the mix her other two kids (Scarlett Pomers, "Star Trek:
Voyager"; Mitch Holleman, "Daddio") and they certainly aren't candidates
for a Rockwell portrait, but Reba and her family muddle through
their domestic morass the only way they know how -- with brutal
honesty and bare-knuckled poise. Writer Allison Gibson ("Home Improvement,"
"Boy Meets World") serves as executive producer with Mindy Schultheis
and Michael Hanel ("Tucker") for Twentieth Century Fox Television.
Raising Dad
Fridays at 9:30PM
Jonathan Katz ("Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist") brings his incisive
wit and masterful comedic understatement to this new family-friendly
comedy starring Bob Saget ("Full House") and newcomer Kat Dennings.
High school is tough enough without the embarrassing addition of
your dad as a teacher. Matt (Saget) is a widower doing his best
to raise two daughters -- Sarah (Dennings) and Emily (Brie Larson)
-- with both help and hindrance from his live-in dad, Sam (Jerry
Adler, "The Sopranos"). With adolescence rearing its ugly head,
the last thing 15-year-old Sarah needs is her father invading her
space...and mucking up her cool image...every day in his classroom.
Unfortunately, as an English teacher at Sarah's high school, Mark
is doing just that. Meagan Good ("Eve's Bayou") and Andy Kindler
("Everybody Loves Raymond") also star. Like the freshman hit "Gilmore
Girls," "Raising Dad" was developed with the support of the Family
Friendly Forum's script development fund. The series was created
by Jonathan Katz, who serves as executive producer along with John
Markus for Paramount Television.
Lost in the USA
Sundays at 7:00PM
From the creators of MTV's hit series "The Real World" comes a
new reality-based game show that hits the open road. Each week,
four teams will run a grueling 48-hour gauntlet of tests, tasks
and time trials that could take them anywhere in the U.S.A. Supplied
with RV's yet deprived of any funds, the teams must rely on cooperation,
creativity and quick thinking to garner points as they race to complete
"scavenger hunt" type missions. Sometimes dangerous, often embarrassing,
these tests capture the flavor of a region--like bungee jumping
off Seattle's space needle or getting a snapshot of the team stark
naked with inhabitants of a nudist colony. Via the internet and
telephone, viewers will collaborate and conspire with the players
in real time, and at the end of each show, members of the two teams
that were the last to cross the finish line have a chance to plead
their case before one team is voted out. Each week, the top team
collects its prizes (like SUV's or trips around the world), and
a new local team replaces the losers. On every mysterious leg of
this never-ending cross-country trek, adventure is calling. Mary-Ellis
Bunim, John Murray ("The Real World," "Road Rules") and Rick de
Oliveira serve as executive producers for Artists Television Group
and Bunim-Murray Productions.
Men, Women, and
Dogs
Sundays at 8:30PM
In this new single-camera relationship comedy, Bill Bellamy ("The
Brothers," "How to Be a Player," MTV) stars as one of four twentysomething
guy friends whose lives center around their girlfriends, their careers
and their dogs--but not necessarily in that order. At L.A.'s happening
dog parks, the guys share their latest adventures in romance while
using their canines as date magnets. The friends include talented
chef Jeremiah (Bellamy) with a penchant for seducing women via his
irresistible charm and decadent chocolate desserts, sensitive idealist
Clay (Daniel Pino) who is nursing the wounds of his first broken
heart, prototypical surf bum Eric (Niklaus Lange) who's just moved
in with his girlfriend Michelle (Heather Stephens), and penny-pinching
Royce (Mike Damus, "Brutally Normal"). More likely to know how to
pamper their pets than how to treat a lady, these four friends often
succeed in shedding some light on each other's inadequacies and
fallacies, and maybe with some help from a dog's sixth sense, they'll
also learn how to meet--and then keep--a woman for good. Emmy-nominated
writers Dan Staley and Rob Long ("Cheers") serve as executive producers
for Paramount Network Television.
Off Centre
Sundays at 9:30PM
Hot comedy auteurs Paul and Chris Weitz have stamped their inimitable
randy brand of humor on such big-screen hits as "American Pie" and
"Antz." Now they're bringing their unique point of view to the small
screen for the first time in an unconventional buddy comedy for
The WB. Staid and slightly neurotic, Mike is the yin to his British
friend Euan's (Sean Maguire) slick, sophisticated and decidedly
decadent yang. Former roommates at Oxford, the two move in to a
posh New York pad, but their opposing views on the opposite sex
are glaring. As each tries to prove that his way is best, peccadilloes,
predicaments and pranks force them to examine relationships from
the other's viewpoint -- which keeps them both off-balance and wondering
if the other one isn't right after all. "Off Centre" also stars
Lauren Stamile, John Cho, Kimberly Davies and Jason Winston George.
The Weitzes serve as executive producers with Danny Zuker ("Just
Shoot Me," "Roseanne") for Warner Bros. Television and Dreamworks
SKG.
