The following material is interesting, and I felt compelled to include it at this site since it is worth repeating.  Also, I remind my readers that my purpose for collecting and researching such material is to present a collection of excellent, and noteworthy events that are, in-fact, still definitively unexplained.

Evidence and Testimony, after all, is one form of measurable TRUTH.  And truth is what it's all about. )

FATIMA 1917

    Before 1947 ( and even some time after ), the UFO phenomenon have often been linked with divine
    revelations. Following the example of other religions, very ancient or not, the christian religion has not
    overlooked this vision of things. A study of apparitions attributed to the Virgin Mary throughout the world,
    and called "Marian", show that they have certainly more to do with revelations of entities related to the
    UFO phenomenon than with something else. The most obvious and sensational case is Fatima, in Portugal.

    On May 13, 1917, three children are looking after their sheep when they see a bright lightening bolt and
    find themselves surrounded by a blinding light in the middle of which a women of small size appears,
    speaks to them, and asks them to come back to the same place exactly one month later.

    On June 13, the children return, along with about fifty people, but only the children see the entity. The end
    of the phenomenon is accompanied by a white cloud then by a small explosion that, this time, all the
    witnesses see. This appearance occurs near the tree that is going to become the center for all the
    apparitions.

    On July 13, this time there are at least 4,500 people who come to the meeting place. There is a kind of loud
    buzzing, a drop in temperature and sunlight . The tree is surrounded with a small cloud and the departure of
    the "Lady", as the children called her, is accompanied with a powerful sound. The children then affirm
    having had "a vision of hell" and were promised that God would come to punish their sins thanks to an
    unknown light that would light up the sky. Strangely, the "Lady" would have promised them to intercede
    with God by asking him for "the consecration" of Russia, at that time on the verge of revolution.

    On August 13, 18,000 people are present but not the children, who had been thrown in prison by a local
    notable. A roar of thunder came, followed by a cloud formation around the tree. The witnesses observe a
    luminous globe turning inside the clouds and the fall of "angelhair".
    On August 19, the children, set free, see the entity which promises them a miracle for October 13 before
    slowly setting out towards the east, accompanied by a noise which sounded like a "engine".

    On September 13, there were 30,000 people crowding around the place, among them, two skeptic priests.
    At noon, the light seems to lose its intensity even though the sky is clear. A globe of light descends and
    lands on the tree. A cloud forms around it and a new fall of "angelhair" occurs. The "Lady" appears to the
    children and reiterates her promise of a miracle for the following month. Then, the globe flies away and
    "disappears in the sun".

    On October 13, rain falls but 70,000 people are there. Lightening crosses the sky at noon and a scent
    described as pleasant and sweet precedes the apparition of the "Lady" to the children. After she leaves,
    the rain suddenly stops and the clouds parted so that a spinning gold disk throwing out rays of colored light
    could pass through. Suddenly, the disk dives in a zigzag motion towards the terrified crowd before
    correcting its movement and setting off towards the sun. Stunned, the witnesses who were present discover
    that their clothes were dry as a result. The disk was seen some miles from there by some farmers. The
    promised miracle had taken place...

    The aerial appearances argue in favor of a repetitive UFO apparition. The entity's behavior connects
    closely to that observed in dozens of modern cases, including the content apparently inconsistent with its
    intention which sounds so much like those reported by abducted victims. Furthermore, the children having
    specified that the "Lady" seemed to rest "lightly on the leaves" of the small tree, everything leads us to
    believe that she was a kind of holographic projection. Finally, Fatima's last apparition before 70,000 people
    represents the most important revelation with multiple witnesses in the history of the UFO phenomenon.
 

I find the material, above, to be interesting in that the event, an historical fact, describes the activities of a local "ruling class"
whose existence is NOT overtly recognized as such, and perhaps more importantly, whose displayed level of technology
is, or was, quite powerful and intimidating.
