IN SEARCH OF THE MAGIC
IN THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH
...( part 2 of 3 )

It was the last week of July, and the first days of August, 1998.  It was HOT!
Miller --- Jammmers to those in the know, MindMyst to those on Yahoo --- found himself in
Disney World, Orlando, Florida.

In August, I published an article here in the FORUM describing some of my initial impressions regarding David Copperfield's Magic Underground, and Disney World in general.  That piece is archived at this website and located in the Magic Section.   Click here to take you directly there.  This is the second of three installments which will be archived to the same place and left here for your amusement indefinitely.  Please do write to me with your impressions of this work.

 Bubble Nicolas
Mime and Bubble  ... talk about street performing.

Unfortunately I missed seeing this one, even though my favorite place in EPCOT is visiting the World Showcase.

RAFIKI and JAMMMERS
                Shaman and Magician
                             Hakuna matata!

Jon Armstrong, magician ... at the Rose & Crown
magician in a  "London" Pub...  This is missed, too!  This basic lack of planning information is due to the sheer size of Disney World.  The Internet is helping shrink this problem in a decisive way.

And, no search for magic would be complete without the presence of the spirit world.   Disney  presents us with magnificent examples of traditional  background environments that we magicians love to employ often...  The Haunted House.

        Haunted Mansion

                                                   The Tower of Terror

Also, there is a beautiful, live-performance, interactive stage set collection of The Wizard of OZ, which is a regularly playing portion of The Great Movie Ride at Disney's MGM Studios Theme Park.

Disney offers a large selection of live performances to its guests.  These are the shows that I search out every time I go to visit.  This visit I managed to find the following shows...

In the Magic Kingdom:   The Famous live cruise guides of the ...
             Jungle Cruise in Adventureland.

MGM Studios:  The Mulan Parade,  Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, Street Brass Emsemble, The Blues Brother's Band, and The Great Movie Ride.

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular

The Animal Kingdom:  The Hai Jenga Stiltwalkers, and a cool, live band performing at the Dawa Bar, in Harambe, Africa.
Live "Performer" in The Garden
                                                    of the Tree of Life

In Epcot:  The Acrobats of China, the Chalk Artists of Italy ...
               ... and  the Junkanoo Bus!

At the Polynesian Resort: The Hawaiian Luau
This show is simply great!!  You must see it, if you haven't already.  Yes, there is a portion of the show featuring Polynesian Fire Juggling.  And it is very, very good.  I have many portions of the show video taped, but nothing is like seeing it live!  It's magical that way.
