Initial Acquaintance/Rough Translation

(JA)
Mark 10:35-45
Rough Translation

35) And go to him James and John, the sons of Zebedaeos, saying to him, "Teacher, we wish in order that what thing if we should ask you you might do for us." 36) But the one (he?) said to them, "What (why?) you are wishing for me I will do for you?" 37) And (but? then?) they said to him, "Give to us in order that one out of the rights of you and one out of the lefts we might sit in the glory of you!" 38) And (but? then?) Jesus said to them, "Not do you know what (why?) you are asking. You are able (are you able?) to drink the cup which I myself drink or the baptism (with respect to) which I myself am baptized to be baptized. (?) 39) And (but? then?) The ones said to him, "we are (are we?) able. (?)" And (but? then?) Jesus said to them, "The cup which I myself drink you will drink and the baptism (with respect to) which I myself am baptized you will be baptized, 40) and (but? then?) the to sit out of the rights of me or out of the well-named (places) not is mine to give, but [is given] to whom (pl. ones) it has been prepared."

41) And having heard the ten began to get agitated concerning James and John. 42) And having summoned them Jesus says to them, "We know that the ones thinking to rule the nations over- lord them and the great ones of them [i.e. among those thinking to rule?] over-authoritate (?) them. 43) And (but? then?) not thus is it among you all, but who might wish great to become among you all shall be of you all servant 44) and who might wish among you to be first will be of all slave; 45) for even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his soul (life?) a ransom (Gr. "Lytron") in the place of (Gr. "anti" not "hyper"??) many.

(Supplement) (DH) MARK 10:35-45
(Rough Translation)

(v.35) And are approaching to him Jakob [James?] and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying to him: "Teacher, we are wishing in order that whatever we might ask you, you might do for us. (v.36) But/and he said to them: "What [why?] are you all wishing [me] [that] I shall/will do to/for you?" (v.37) And/but they said to him: "Give to/for us in order that one of you (sg.) out of/at right [or: one at right of you] and one out of/at left we might sit in the glory of you." (v.(38) But/and Jesus said to them: "Not do you all know, what [why?] you all are asking. Are you able to drink the cup which I am drinking, or the baptism [with?] which I am baptized [I am baptizing?] to be baptized?" (v.39) But/and they said to him: "We are able." But/and Jesus said to them: "The cup which I am drinking you all will/shall drink, and the baptism [with?] which I am baptized [I am baptizing] you all will/shall be baptized; (v.40) but the sitting out of/at right of me or out of/at left not is mine to give, but for/to the ones it has been prepared." (v.41) And having heard, the ten began to be angry concerning Jakob [James?] and John. (v.42) And after calling them toward [together?], Jesus is saying to them: "You all know that the ones who have a reputation to rule over the nations [the Gentiles?] are lording over [having power?] them and the great ones of them are having power [exerting authority? rule over?] them. (v.43) But not so/thus it is in/among you all, but whoever wishes great to become in/among you all will be of you all a servant [a deacon? a minister?], (v.44) and whoever wishes in/among you all to be first will be of all a slave. (v.45) For (kai gar) the son of the human being did not come to be served, but to serve and to give the life [soul?] of him [as] a means of release/redeeming [lutroomai - redeem, set free, liberate; lutrosis - redemption] for/on behalf of many.
