ohn Sharry is a petroleum geologist with twenty two years experience in exploration and production. His considerable expertise includes project management, geological modeling, database creation/management and seismic interpretation. John has been involved in various large, integrated reservoir studies worldwide and has taught a number of courses to industry on reservoir characterization, mapping, directional surveys, and the use of the Internet by geoscientists.John has extensive experience as a consultant for various multinational, integrated petroleum companies and seismic contractors in various countries and regions worldwide including the former Soviet Union, India, eastern Europe and the Middle East. Prior to starting his consulting practice, John worked 13 years with Gulf Research & Development Co. and Oryx Energy/Sun Oil Co. on a wide variety of assignments including projects in China, the Gulf of Mexico and throughout the western U.S.
John obtained a Ph.D. in Geology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Geology from the University of Rochester and a B.A. in Geology from Carleton College. He is an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the Dallas Geological Society, the Geological Society of America, the American Geophysical Union, and Sigma Xi. He has been as member of the CEED workstation and software evaluation committee and a Member of the API Well Numbering Committee. John has also published scores of papers and articles in various professional journals.
