Martin Mohler 1830 - 1903

This Cumberland County, PA born son of Jacob Mohler and Sarah Rothrock graduated from Northwestern University in 1852. In 1871, he moved to Kansas where he a secured a half section of land. After serving in several positions of trust, in 1888, he was elected Secretary Kansas State Board of Agriculture. During his three terms in office, he suggested many improved methods of farming that led to Kansas being recognized as one of the best agricultural states in America. The sixth biennial report issued under his direction was heralded at the 1889 Paris Expositon as the best of its kind in world.

Martin and son Jacob were recently added to the Wall of Fame in Boswell Square, at S.W. 13th and Boswell Avenue Topeka, KS. Their names bring the total of Wall of Fame inductees to 21 since the wall was created in 1998. Jacob Christian Mohler

Jacob Christian Mohler 1875 - 1953

Jacob Christian Mohler, son of Martin Mohler and Catherine Lucinda Hoover, attended Dougherty College and received an LL. D. from Washburn College, 1914. After beginning as clerk in the office of the Kansas State Board of Agriculture in 1893, Jacob succeeded F.D. Colburn as Board Secretary in 1914. This Republican, Episcopalian Jayhawker also served as Director Central Trust Company, Secretary Kansas Council of defense, Chairman State Apportionment Commission, and Treasurer Anti-Saloon League of Kansas. Jacob was member of Gamma Sigma Delta, the Masons, and the Topeka Chamber of Commerce. He was considered one of the greatest agricultural experts of his day and considered for position as chief farmer in President Harding's Cabinet. 

Robert Emerson (Bob) Mohler 1912 - Present

Robert Emerson Mohler, son of Reuben Albert Mohler, Jr. and Pearl Marie Carter Mohler, born in Akron, Ohio, August 14, 1912, remains an active Akron resident. Bob served the community as a member and President of the Akron Public Schools Board of Education for many years. He held membership in several civic organizations with a special interest in history; elected President of the Summit County Historical Society. He was an assistant county prosecutor in his early law career before joining the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. Bob was a prominent member on the Juvenile Court Board that was responsible for the construction of the current facilities in Akron. Active in the Democratic party and a Delegate to the 1968 National Convention in Chicago, Bob retired as Firestone's patent attorney when asked to run for mayor of Akron. Although defeated at the polls, he was asked and served as the Summit County Prosecutor. Later, he turned to the private practice of law and while officially retired still handles a few cases on a limited basis. Bob recently was honored by the bar association for being one of the longest practicing attorneys in the area.

Bob well remembers his grandfather, Reuben Albert Mohler, Sr. An active man throughout his life, Bob turns 90 years of age with the same tenacity characteristic of Reuben, Sr. Bob and his wife Marian Silvester Mohler are themselves the parents of three children, grandparents of eight, and great-grandparents of five. Andy Mohler
Born in Canton, Ohio, Captain Mohler graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1978 with a BS in Systems Engineering. He entered the Naval Flight Officer pipeline and graduated first in his class in both flight school and in E-2C Hawkeye NFO syllabus. Captain Mohler was assigned to the VAW-121 "Bluetails" in 1979 as part of Airwing Seven aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. During his tour, VAW-121 won unprecedented three consecutive Battle Efficiency Awards.
Captain Mohler was selected for US Navy Test Pilot School and completed the Systems Curriculum in 1984 after flying and evaluating seventeen airborne weapons systems. He also qualified as an F-14A RIO and UC-12 Copilot. He has flown 50 different aircraft and helicopters to date.
While assigned as the Assistant Navigator on, USS Lexington Captain Mohler qualified as an Officer of the Deck and was the only Command Duty Officer underway qualified bridge watchstander.
Captain Mohler changed designators to Aerospace Engineering Duty Officer and in 1990 was assigned to Naval Air Systems Command Headquarters as E-2C Avionics Systems Project Officer. During this tour, he led a 50-man international team at the French Flight Test Center to provide both the U.S. and the French Navy an early operational assessment of the Hawkeye Group II system.
Upon graduation from the DSMC Program Managers Course in 1992, Captain Mohler was assigned as the Assistant Program Manager for Systems Engineering (Class Desk) on the E-2C Hawkeye.
Captain Mohler graduated from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF) in 1996. He served as a National Defense University delegate to the People's Republic of China, received an MS in National Resource Strategy and completed the Senior Acquisition Course.
From 1996-1999 Captain Mohler was the E-2C Deputy Program Manager, Foreign Military Sales. He managed all aspects of FMS aircraft in five allied countries and was responsible for development of alternative AEW programs for FMS derived from the Hawkeye 2000 system.
Captain Mohler was ordered back to sea duty in May 1999 as the COMCARGRUFIVE Battle Group Materiel Officer, forward deployed on USS Kitty Hawk. He served in the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch and the Korean and South China Sea AOR. Captain Mohler was selected for major shore command and reported to NAWCTSD in June 2000 as Executive Officer
In June 2002 Captain Mohler assumed command of NAVAIR Orlando Training Systems Division, Orlando, and is also the Commander, Naval Support Activity, Orlando.
Captain Mohler's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3), Navy Commendation Medal (3), the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Expeditionary Medal (2).

Dale Eugene Mohler
16 April 1959 - Present (2003)

Our Ephrata, Pennsylvania born weatherman, son of Richard Glen and Anita Mohler, became interested in his chosen profession early in life. According to his AccuWeather biography, he recalls cutting out weather maps and pasting them in a notebook when he was just 8 years old and by 1972 was keeping daily observations. At Twin Valley Senior High School, he was a member of the National Honor Society, a two-year letter winner in cross country and an outfielder on the Berks county all-county baseball team. Graduating from Pennsylvania State University in 1981, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. As an Associate Forecaster for AccuWeather, he worked in radio broadcasting including WDAC, a Christian radio station in Lancaster, PA and writing radio and television forecasts. Over the years, Dale rose through the ranks and now serves as an Expert Senior Forecaster. He is also the Co-Director of AccuWeather's International Forecasting Department. Father of two (Courtney Elise and Derek Richard), Dale is married to Kelly, a full-time mother and preschool teacher. Professor emeritus of music (clarinet) John Mohler was honored at the International Clarinet Association’s July 2003 ClarinetFest, held in Salt Lake City, with an Honorary Membership Award for Lifetime Achievement in Performance, Teaching, and Professional Service. The award recognizes Mohler’s many accomplishments as a professional musician and teacher, and his considerable contributions to the International Clarinet Society over the years, including president, 1986-1988.

John Mohler, M.D.

John Mohler, M.D. is currently an emeritis professor at USC/Keck School of Medicine. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the Navy as a Medic. In the 1980's and '90's, he served in the Army Reserve, including a stint as commander of the local medical reserve unit. He was then responsible for touring other reserve units across the country, helping them to prepare for biologic and chemical warfare. When he was mustered out, he was a Colonel.

John is married to Mary Ellen Mohler who have three children and 6 grandchildren. He is currently enjoying his retirement by traveling and researching our branch of the Mohler family tree.


John Joseph Mohler

John Joseph Mohler grew up in Quinter, Kansas, the son of devout Brethern parents and grandparents. One of a few from this small western Kansas town to attend college, he worked his way through Washburn University of Topeka. While at Washburn, he lettered in football and received all conference recognition. He distinguished himself academically and was voted into Sagamore, an academic honors fraternity. John has the distinction of being the first non Greek President of the Washburn student body.

Upon hearing that his father had petitioned him out as a WW 2 conscientious objector, John joined the Marines and was subsequently nominated for the bronze star for his valor. He settled in Colby, Kansas after the war to start his own business and raise his family.


Lester Mohler, M.D.

Dr. Mohler practiced with Ohio Plastic Surgeons from 1970 to 1996. In addition to performing cosmetic surgery, he developed an innovative cleft lip repair operation. In his distinguished career, he made more than 50 mission trips to remote areas of the world, operating on children with birth defects. For instance, during January, 2005 plastic surgeon Lester Mohler, provided treatment to 10 cleft lip and burn patients, allowing Cambodian trainees to receive hands-on instruction in pre-op, post-op and operating room situations. In the second year Operation Smile has conducted a medical education program in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Doctor Mohler had accompanied a team of volunteers from the United States.  The team provided training and education to nearly 70 Cambodian physicians, nurses and medical students. Participants observed and assisted team members, learning proper sterilization techniques and assisting the surgeons in the operating room.
