Argentine Tango is very alive and well in the beautiful city of Santa Fe New Mexico. There are Argentine Tango classes and instruction most nights of the week and weekly milongas on the town. Numerous special event and workshops add to the local scene. Our community has grown and matured thanks to the inspiration, teaching and love of Luren Bellucci and Michael Walker. Milonga

Luren Bellucci and Michael Walker are two of the great Argentine Tango dancers in this country. Their spectacular showcase Tangos have won acclaim from both audiences and students through out the USA and Canada. They travel extensively bringing their flair and style to workshops across the country. Miguel Angel Zotto, the creator, choreographer, and star of "Tango X2" says of them: "In my opinion, Michael and Luren are the best Argentine Tango Dancers in the United States"

Luren is a superb showcase dancers but her true love is social Tango. Her workshops are devoted to lead and follow dance made fun. Under her direction one learns how to lead and to follow in the true style of the dance. She is a warm individual that give a remarkable amount of personal attention to each student no matter how large the class. She makes Tango a living, passionate dance as it was in the 1920s and 1930s in Argentina.
Following the Columbus Tango Fest '97 the following comment on their classes was posted:

"I noted that Michael and Luren are particularly good teachers of how the mechanics of tango work: their formal dance training has given them the eye to spot problems of balance, alignment, posture, frame, force -- AND they have the skill and vocabulary to convey this knowledge to those of us with no background in ballet or modern dance. I always left their classes with gratitude and relief, feeling that progress was at least possible!"

Santa Fe, New Mexico is fortunate to have Luren living here. She has established a thriving Tango community in a city more known for Salsa and C&W. Regular group classes draw us together. Newcomers and visitors are always welcome.

Michael has recently moved to Phoenix and is teaching there. He has regular Sunday classes and is available for private classes. He makes frequent trips to Santa Fe for weekend workshops. Luren and her assistants have an extensive schedule of group classes and visiting workshops. We have all found that private lessons with Luren are especially valuable. She is extremely good working with men to help them learn how to lead a move correctly and how a correctly lead move feels when dancing with an excellent woman dancer. I find is especially helpful dancing with a woman that is so talented but still insists that I actually lead the moves!

Sunday	1:30-2:30pm Beginning Tango with Luren John and Rosalia's classes: Hours: 3:00-5:00pm Prices: 6 One Hour Class $110.00 6 Two Hour Class $150.00 There is a One Class Make-up Allowance The 2nd hour is a build upon the first. Those at a beginning level that choose to stay for the 2nd hour is at the teacher's discretion. Preregistration is recommended. To try and ensure a balanced class in lead/follow, it is recommended that you sign-up with a partner, of course rotation of partners will continue to allow all a chance to dance. Tango Tuesday Milonga!!	The Tuesday night Milonga is at a FANTASTIC location: El Mesón, La Cocina de Espana at 213 Washington Ave in downtown Santa Fe. It is just north of the Marcy St-Washington Ave intersection. El Mesón is a very good Spanish restaurant with a very good Tapa menu and a full menu of Spanish dishes. There food is great. The Tapas are especially nice when dancing, you order, eat, dance,order.eat,dance..... They also have a very good wine list, both by the drink and bottle. Best of all is the dance space and the owner!!! They have a very large new bar with a beautiful wood floor. The usable floor is about 25X30 after the tables are pushed to the walls. There is good seating all around the floor. Good sound system. The owner is very nice and really likes the dance and music. It is so nice to really be welcome and appreciated. The dances will be every Tuesday, music starts about 7:15-7:30 till 11:00 or more??

Special "Milongas Under the Stars" every summer!

Special treats in the summer are outdoors Milongas Under the Stars at the home of Brad and Victoria Stamm. Michael and Luren will co-host wonderful evenings of dance, food and fun under the brilliant stars of a Santa Fe night. These dances already have attracted Tangueros from across the US and around the world; you don't want to miss them if you are in the area. For more information and directions check Milongas under the Stars. See you there!! Start at 6:30. Remember these are outdoor dances and may have to be canceled if too much rain. Evenings are cool, bring a light wrap for you can stay all night!
