Jason P. Duplessis - Lead Vocals, Background Vocals
Jason joined Artemis in 1997 after being caught singing in the hall at work by colleage and lead guitarist Al Robelot. What began as an impromptu audition has become a very fun way to pass Friday and Saturday nights. He's often been heard saying while toweling the persperation from his face, "I'm not the best singer and I don't dance all that well, but I can sweat with the best of them." Barbara can vouch for this, as she now has to perform wearing a raincoat. "The best part is getting to know the six other people in the band and their families. We're really just one big blended dysfunctional bunch." Jason's favorite shows are when his three kids join him on stage for "Every Morning" and the ever popular"Tarantula." He is definitely an Elvis fan, but does believe He's really dead.

Barbara Schwartzenburg - Lead Vocals, Background Vocals
The doctor slapped her behind, Barbara screamed out a B flat and has been singing ever since. "As a young girl, growing up in Lake Charles, I was a member of the Iglinsky trio, (three locals who could really harmonize!) I started singing in the adult church choir at the age of 10, and I've been doing that, as well as cantoring, ever since. Barbara was also a founding member and a featured vocalist with the gospel type singing group "Wings Of Faith". Barabra was new to the "band world" when she joined Artemis in 1997. Now a seasoned veteran she says, "it's been a natural progression. These guys make it easy!" When not singing with Artemis, Barbara can be found about town working various community projects, or doing absolutely whatever for her 3 children and groupie husband.

Al Robelot - Lead Guitar, Background Vocals
When he was fourteen, Al's parents bought him a guitar, thinking that if he had something to do with his fingers, he would stop biting his fingernails. This approach proved ineffective on both counts; Al did not stop nail biting, nor did he learn to play guitar. Then at age 39 and in the throes of a severe mid-life crises, Al realized that since he could not afford a sports car and the chances of a younger woman running off with him were very, very slim, his only recourse was to take up electric guitar. This he did. Today, although still in crisis and still gnawing on his digits, Al has learned several chords in the key of C, has camouflaged himself with actual musicians, and has found his musical niche (mainly because he owns the cat the band is named after).

Dennis Strickland - Rhythm Guitar, Background Vocals
Dennis has been playing guitar probably as long as he can remember. One of his first influences was Duane Eddy (who?). Duane played with various local bands and taught guitar at Baton Rouge Music Studio and Werlein's on and off. Dennis organized and performed in the first house band for the Country Club of Louisiana. Currently he plays for Artemis, the Baton Rouge Jazz Ensemble, and the St. Jude Church Choir. His 'Real' job is with the Department of Environmental Quality.

Cheryl Marchand - Sax, Flute, Bongos, Background Vocals
Cheryl began playing saxophone…a long time ago. She wanted to play drums
or trumpet but her junior high school band director said it was saxophone
or nothing. Eventually, while earning her instrumental Music Ed degree,
Cheryl did get to play drums and trumpet, along with lots of other
instruments. She enjoys teaching and maintains a private studio at
Zeagler Music in Baton Rouge. Her "big gig" was playing in an orchestra
that backed Trisha Yearwood…FUN! Not as much fun as playing with ARTEMIS!!!!
Cheryl is a founding member of the Baton Rouge Jazz Ensemble and The Sax Project.

David Robinson - Bass Guitar
David began playing guitar in the late 60's and switched to bass guitar in 1970. David comes to us with a wide variety of musical experiences ranging from various rock and roll "70's garage and bar" bands to two years playing in a "big band" jazz band while in junior college. In 1976 David took an extended leave from playing music for 21 years. In the midst of the "mid life crisis" he was prompted by an inspirational author to "return to the things you used to enjoy most." Thus a "musical resurrection" of sorts occured and he landed smack dab in the middle of Artemis. In the "real world" David is employed with Canon U.S.A. - Video Division as a sales representative covering the Gulf South area.

Steve Marchand - Drums
Steve has been playing drums 25...30...whoa...how long? Let's just say a real long time. In the 70s he toured with the Bayou Breeze show band, playing a good portion of the U.S. and even overseas. In the late 80s he played in Murphy's Good Time Dixieland band cruising up and down the mighty Mississippi. More recently he has performed as a percussionist with the Baton Rouge Concert Band and the Baton Rouge Little Theater. In addition to Artemis, Steve also plays in the Baton Rouge Jazz Ensemble and does occasional jazz trio work. Steve has a daytime gig as a computer programmer/systems analyst with the City of Baton Rouge.

Daniel Strickland - Chief Sound Technician
Daniel was born and raised in Baton Rouge and started playing drums at an early age. He was a percissionist for several years, however, Daniel's fascination for drawing his own comics and characters eventually took over. Daniel earned his BFA in Sequintial Art from Savanah College of Art and Design in May 2004. Since then he has undertaken many freelance projects including the December 2005 cover for "OffBEAT Magazine" which won the New Orleans Press Club Award for "Best Editorial Illustration." His passion for art has matured but his love of music has remained. Consequently, his part time gig is with Artemis as sound tech. Check out his art on the links page.

Artemis Robelot - Mascot, Rehearsal supervisor
While not catching mice or sleeping, Artemis enjoys exploring Dennis' car, climbing trees and cruising the neighboorhood. After being with the band for 6 years, Artemis is adjusting well to stardom. In a recent interview Artemis is quoted as saying, "Even though I have very little privacy now, its a great way to meet chicks." You can email Artemis here.
