Watch Crusade on TNT, Wednesdays at 10:00
It was the dawn of the third age of mankind. Ten years after the Earth-Minbari War, the Babylon Project was a dream given form. It's goal, to prevent another war by creating a place where humans and aliens could work out their differences peacefully. It's a port of call, home away from home, for diplomats, hustlers, entrepreneurs, and wanderers. Humans and aliens wrapped in two million five hundred thousand tons of spinning metal, all alone in the night. It can be a dangerous place, but it's our last, best hope for peace. This is the story of the last of the Babylon stations. The year is 2258. The name of the place is Babylon 5. - Commander Jeffrey Sinclair (Season 1 Intro).

CommentaryI'm probably the last person to weigh in on the treatment Crusade has received at the hands of TNT, but I wanted to add my voice to those who are very upset with the way the show has been handled. I was very grateful to TNT for picking up Season 5 of Babylon 5 and for their production of the four B5 movies. When they announced that Crusade was being developed I looked forward to the continuation of the story of the Babylon 5 universe. I'm not going to be able to see that continuation, because TNT and JMS were unable to agree on a vision for the series. Given JMS's track record with B5, I would have given him the benefit of the doubt, but I guess TNT was unwilling to yield full control to JMS. The result, Crusade is cancelled and barring a miracle (like getting picked up by Sci-Fi) it will be gone forever. |
