Hi. I'm Vic Milán.

What Do I Do?

I write.

 

I used to be a cowboy and a progressive-rock DJ. But for over half my life I've been a professional writer. Among my 80 or so published novels are the Prometheus Award-winning THE CYBERNETIC SAMURAI, its sequel THE CYBERNETIC SHOGUN, the popular military action/adventure series The Guardians (as Richard Austin), the Star Trek novel FROM THE DEPTHS. I'm also a charter member of the Wild Cards mafia. Recent works include the dark military SF novel CLD: COLLECTIVE LANDING DETACHMENT and a trilogy of BattleTech novels.

 

Two novels I wrote for the Gold Eagle series Deathlands are in the pipeline, pub dates and titles unknown. I've also written two entries in the series spun off from it, Outlanders, and am just beginning a third. I'm also writing a MechWarrior: Dark Age novel for WizKids/Roc.

 

I'm working on a thriller and near-future SF novel called THE WAR FOR AMERICA. Its message: freedom can win.

 

As you may've noticed, there's been a bit of a hiatus in my published writings. Stuff, as they say, happened. I'm charging back full-throttle. Expect much.

 

 

What Am I Into?

Compulsive reading, guns, history, riding a recumbent tricycle, baseball, teddy bears, birdwatching; listening to hard rock, reggae, mariachi, and Baroque; Yang-style taijiquan, ferrets, learning Spanish, action movies, HK flicks (Jackie Chan!), dinosaurs, and looking at naked women.

 

At one point I studied, of all things, machining. It's quite a lot of fun. I find I especially enjoy writing programs for CNC (computer-numerically-controlled) machining, as well as drawing parts in CadKey.
