Tim attended the Firecracker Grand Prix XII at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, a Regional/National race. As can be expected, it was a hot weekend in Hallett, OK but there was a good breeze. Tim qualified on the poll for the 14 lap Regional race. Tim had a bad start but held his inside line going into turn 1 and stayed in front of Bob Hahn. The two had a good race going, pulling away from third place. On the 12th lap, Tim missed his downshift and stalled the car going into turn 1 and Bob took full advantage of it. Tim quickly got the car refired and that is how the race finished, with Bob in first place and Tim in second.
Tim qualified 4th for the 25 lap National race on Sunday. Tom Bernard had the pole and basically started the race going into the last corner. This caught Bob Hahn, who was gridded 3rd, off guard and he ended up spinning the car. Actually, most of the field was caught off guard and the start was waved off. Bob had to start from the back of the field on the restart moving Tim into the inside position of the second row. Again, Tom Bernard started to race going into the last corner and the second start was waved off. Finally, everybody was on board and the third time was a charm. Tom Bernard was shown the mechanical flag because his window net came down which he finally acknowledged the second time. This moved Tim into second place. Being that this is a long race Tim knew he needed to save his car for the finish and paced himself about a second a lap slower than his qualifying time. About halfway through the race Bob Hahn caught up and passed Tim about two laps later. Bob and Tim hooked up for a couple of laps and began to catch Tom Smith, the leader. Late in the race Tom Bernard began to catch Tim but Tim was able to get by lapped traffic faster and retain third place. Bob Hahn was unable to catch Tom Smith.
